"Barack Obama supports sensible, community-driven education for children because, among other things, he believes it could help protect them from pedophiles. A child's knowledge of the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching is crucial to keeping them safe from predators."
Back then, the campaign directed me to Oregon Department of Education guidelines which they said would give people a good idea of where Obama is at on the issue...
Part of the problem here is that many school districts across the country look to The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) when shaping guidelines. Those guidelines may make many parents shudder. They include teaching children 5-8 years old about homosexuality, names for body parts and specific details about how a baby is made...
Regarding the polling that was done on this issue, the Republican strategist told me that:
“No one seeing those guidelines believed that that material was age appropriate.”
The Obama campaign sent out the SIECUS guidelines to MSNBC when asked about this issue last year. The problem confronting the Obama campaign on this issue is that while he may not be for any of the more intense language contained in the SIECUS guidelines, he does support age-appropriate sex ed for kindergartners and the polling suggests voters are uncomfortable with that...
...When Obama was a state senator in 2003, he tried to get a bill passed on this issue of sex education. Read below from The Associated Press:
Obama's legislation would have altered Illinois' sex education standards to include instruction in any grade from kindergarten through 12th, rather than grades 6-12. It deleted language calling for sex education courses to honor "monogamous heterosexual marriage" and would have softened the state's emphasis on abstinence, while adding that any course materials should be "age and developmentally appropriate" and based on the latest scientific studies.
Obama was chairman of a state Senate committee that passed the legislation along party lines in March 2003. The full Senate never voted on the measure, and it ultimately died.

What you will see is an intentional, progressive, step-by-step effort to desensitive and psychologically manipulate children, starting in Kindergarten, so that they will accept homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, and transgenderism as being "perfectly normal."
Even though the SIECUS guidelines talk about being "scientific and medically accurate," no warnings are given the students about the medically, emotionally, and psychologically dangerous consequences that are involved with sexual deviancy and risky lifestyles.
If SIECUS wants to promote "scientific and medically accurate" guidelines, then the following data from the Centers for Disease Control needs to be emphasized in the guidelines.
If Obama truly cares about the well-being of America's students, then this is the type of information that he should want them to know and understand in order to save them from a life of pain and possibly early death:

Estimates from the HIV Incidence Surveillance System --- United States, 2006 -- Subpopulations

Initial results published recently for 2006 (2) showed that 73% of new infections [of HIV] were in males, 45% were in blacks, and 53% were in men who have sex with men (MSM).
To provide additional subpopulation estimates by age group, race/ethnicity, and HIV transmission category, CDC conducted a more detailed analysis of data from the new surveillance system. The results indicated that, in 2006, of new HIV infections among males, 72% were in MSM [men who have sex with men].
Among MSM with new infections, 46% were white, 35% were black, and 19% were Hispanic.

MMWR Analysis Provides New Details on HIV Incidence in U.S. Populations, September 2008

The new analysis underscores the severe impact of HIV among gay and bisexual men of all races and ethnicities, African Americans, and Hispanics. It also shows us that, within these groups, the impact is most severe among young black gay and bisexual men, white gay and bisexual men in their 30s and 40s, and black women.
* Young Black MSM: Among MSM overall, there were more new HIV infections in young black MSM (aged 13-29) than any other age/racial group of MSM. The number of new infections among young black gay and bisexual men was roughly twice that of whites and of Hispanics (5,220 infections in blacks vs. 3,330 among whites and 2,300 among Hispanics).
* White MSM in their 30s and 40s: Among MSM in the analysis, white MSM accounted for close to half (46%) of HIV incidence in 2006. Most new infections among white MSM occurred in those aged 30-39 (4,670), followed by those aged 40-49 (3,740).
* Hispanic MSM: Among Hispanic MSM, most new infections occurred in the youngest (13-29) age group (2,300), though a substantial number of new HIV infections were among those aged 30-39 (1,870).
* Black Women: While there were fewer new HIV infections among black women than black men in 2006 (8,810 vs. 16,120), CDC’s new analysis finds that black women are far more affected by HIV than women of other races. The HIV incidence rate for black women was nearly 15 times as high as that of white women and nearly four times as high as that of Hispanic women (55.7 per 100,000 population among black women vs. 3.8 among white women and 14.4 among Hispanic women).
* Black Men: Men accounted for two-thirds of new infections (65%) among blacks in 2006. The HIV incidence rate for black men was about six times as high as that of white men and nearly three times that of Hispanic men (115.7 per 100,000 in black men vs. 19.6 among white men and 43.1 among Hispanic men). Among black men, the majority of new infections (63%) was among gay and bisexual men.
CDC’s data show that Latinos are disproportionately affected by HIV, representing 18 percent of new HIV infections among the racial/ethnic groups examined in the new analysis (in 2006), while representing 15 percent of the total U.S. population.
CDC’s new analysis also indicates that men made up three-quarters (76%) of new infections among Hispanics in 2006, the majority of which (72%) was MSM. The HIV incidence rate among Hispanic men was more than double that of white men (43.1 vs. 19.6 per 100,000).

Questions and Answers on Subpopulation Estimates from the HIV Incidence Surveillance System – United States, 2006, published in the September 12, 2008 issue of the MMWR
This analysis confirms that MSM of all races continue to be severely affected by this epidemic, accounting for a majority (53%) of the new infections. This analysis further shows that the age group in which the most HIV infections occurred in MSM varied among racial and ethnic groups. For example, among black and Hispanic/Latino MSM, most new infections occurred in young MSM between the ages of 13 and 29. In white MSM, most new infections occurred between the ages of 30 and 39.
Overall, the MSM groups with the most new HIV infections were black MSM between the ages of 13 and 29, followed by white MSM between the ages of 30-39 and white MSM between the ages of 40-49. The high numbers of new HIV infections in young, black MSM are of great concern because the number of new infections was approximately twice that of young white and Hispanic/Latino MSM of the same ages (between 13 and 29 years).
Forty-six percent of new HIV infections occurred in blacks, even though blacks comprise only 12% of the US population. The majority (65%) of new infections in blacks occurred in men. Among black men, 63% of new infections occurred through male-to-male sexual contact.
Eighteen percent of new HIV infections occurred in Hispanics and Latinos, even though they comprise 15% of the US population. The majority (76%) of new HIV infections among Hispanics and Latinos were in men and of those, 72% were in MSM.
These new data are a wake-up call: We need to do more to ensure that effective prevention reaches those who need it, particularly MSM and black and Hispanic/Latino men and women. We all have to do more to ensure that HIV infection doesn’t become a rite of passage for young gay and bisexual men. We also have to do more to ensure that communities of color in this country will not continue to be disproportionately affected by HIV. In short, the HIV epidemic is not over in this country. It continues to take a devastating toll.
